The Time Has Come
Its all about the bike, not actually, its the ritual of
the ride.
The excitement in the morning when the fresh sun is up.
Warm wind is coming, the force of the turn, the acceleration from a stop.
That's the extra excitement you know is imminent.
I pick up my jacket. Smell the leather, my heart starts
to beat faster cause I know Im going to be pushing the starter button soon
which is going to fire up 2 cylinders and make a twin exhaust pipe cry for the open road.
My helmet smells like last weeks ride, my gloves feel
softer, the firmness of the jacket padding causes me to feel like a tight ball
of adrenaline as i pull the zip up. Tight but comfortable.
Walking to the garage I look at at hard chrome and steel
that hasn't started to vibrate and shine reflecting sharp laser bursts of light
in the early morning sunrise.
As I pull my leg over the black leather seat holding the
brake lever like a knight ready for battle, i sit and relax back on the seat
preparing myself for the noise, like waiting for the bang after a lightening
strike.
Clutch in, turn the dial, . Ignition. . Neutral. . fuel starts to pump through the stainless
steel pipes like blood flowing through the veins of a wild animal stalking its
prey.
I hit the start button, vibrations go through me as if i
was sitting warming up a P52 Mustang fighter on the runway ready for a straif
run over Europe.
My bike cries for more fuel to give it a rebirth, that's
when i twist the throttle and hear the roar of two pipes.
I am now ready for my ride, ready for the warm wind, the
harsh morning sun and the smell of fumes.
The time has come.
